FAQs

Am I able to use my health insurance?

Accepting insurance is a complex decision for many mental health professionals. By signing contracts with insurance companies, LITTherapy is agreeing to their terms, which often do not hold the best interests of our clients or our business values. LITTherapy’s goal is to provide personalized care, protect your privacy, and avoid conflicts with insurance companies’ requirements for treatment that are designed for their own interests, so LITTherapy does NOT accept health insurance. However, we do allow for a payment plan option for those needing to make lowered weekly payments for services.

LITTherapy understands the need for some individuals to use their insurance to cover the costs of medical services, including therapy. To assist we will provide Superbills that you can submit for potential reimbursement from your insurance company, if you have out of network benefits as part of your plan. You would first need to confirm with your insurance company whether you have out of network benefits and what that includes. LITTherapy will not assist with any challenges with accessing individualized reimbursement, as it’s the client’s responsibility to access the potential reimbursement and troubleshoot any concerns.

If I pay for a class and can’t attend, can I receive a refund?

LITTherapy has a 24 hour cancellation notice for all services. If you cancel within the 24 hour window, you will receive a full refund for your planned service. All sales are final outside of the cancellation timeframe of 24 hours. This allows for our professionals to offer the space in a timely manner to another interested participants.

If I take wellness classes or do counseling , am I guaranteed to see improvement?

LITTherapy can NOT guarantee a client will see improvement in their specific area of need. The shift in change is dependent upon a few variables, the client’s willingness to make changes and try new strategies, the client’s stage of change, the fit of the service for the client’s need, and complexity of the client’s concerns. Counseling services will require a treatment plan and 90 day reviews to discuss progress or lack of progress.

What are the limitations and benefits of telehealth (virtual therapy)?

Telehealth therapy has been around for many years, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but became more popular since 2020. Telehealth therapy provides the ability to see a wider range of providers, since you are no longer limited by your location. It means that transportation and weather are rarely a barrier to having your session. It allows for more flexibility in scheduling since time traveling to/from session may not be needed. It allows the option of having sessions from the comfort of your home, or space of choice.

The biggest limitations for telehealth are the possibility of technical issues disrupting your session, some clients may not have an ideal place to have confidential sessions outside of a therapy office, and some clients simply prefer in person treatment.
